Jñāna Yoga · Verse 37

यथैधांसि समिद्धोऽग्निर्भस्मसात्कुरुतेऽर्जुन | ज्ञानाग्निः सर्वकर्माणि भस्मसात्कुरुते तथा

yathaidhāṃsi samiddho 'gnir bhasmasāt kurute 'rjuna | jñānāgniḥ sarva-karmāṇi bhasmasāt kurute tathā

As fire well-kindled reduces fuel to ashes, so, oh Arjuna, the fire of knowledge reduces all actions to ashes.

Repeated from BG 3.37 with Sanskrit variant. Jñānāgniḥ — fire of knowledge — is the transforming agent.

Sarva-karmāṇi — all actions — includes sañcita (accumulated), prārabdha (mature), and āgāmi (future). Mature knowledge reduces to bhasmasāt — ashes — the karmic potential. It does not annul action in progress (prārabdha) but prevents new bondage. The fire must be samiddha — well-kindled — living knowledge, not intellectualism.
