suhṛn-mitrāry-udāsīna-madhyastha-dveṣya-bandhuṣu | sādhuṣv api ca pāpeṣu sama-buddhir viśiṣyate
The yogi of equal intelligence excels — equal toward well-wishing friends, friends, enemies, neutrals, mediators, the hateful, relatives, the virtuous, and sinners.
An exhaustive list of human relationships: from suhṛt (those who wish well without reciprocity) to mitra (friends), ari (enemies), udāsīna (indifferent), madhyastha (mediators), dveṣya (detested), bandhu (relatives), sādhu (saints), pāpiṣu (sinners).
Sama-buddhi (equal intelligence) is not emotional indifference, but transcendent vision that recognizes the same ātman in all. This is the perfection of the yogī.
