Guṇa-Traya-Vibhāga Yoga · Verse 23

उदासीनवदासीनो गुणैर्यो न विचाल्यते | गुणा वर्तन्त इत्येव योऽवतिष्ठति नेङ्गते

udāsīna-vad āsīno guṇair yo na vicālyate | guṇā vartanta ity eva yo 'vatiṣṭhati neṅgate

Seated like one indifferent, who is not agitated by the qualities, who stands firm thinking ‘the qualities are acting,’ he does not waver.

Udāsīna-vat — like one indifferent — the guṇātīta maintains inner equanimity regardless of external circumstances. This is not coldness but freedom from reactivity.

Na vicālyate — is not agitated — by the play of the guṇas. The guṇas continue to operate in nature, but they do not disturb the inner stability of the realized being.

Guṇā vartante — the qualities are acting — this recognition prevents identification. The guṇātīta knows the guṇas are doing their dance; he merely observes.
