Ātma-Saṃyama Yoga · Verse 22

यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं ततः | यस्मिन्स्थितो न दुःखेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते

yaṃ labdhvā cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyate nādhikaṃ tataḥ | yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vicālyate

Having obtained which, one does not consider any other gain superior; established in which, one is not disturbed even by the most severe affliction.

The realization of yoga is the supreme lābha (gain). Nothing surpasses it (na adhikam). It is the “change of basis” that BG 2.55 described: where even guru duḥkha (intense sorrow) does not cause vicālya (agitation).

This is the sthiti (stability) that the Gītā promises — not absence of pain, but immutability in the face of it.
