यदा चर्मवदाकाशं वेष्टयिष्यन्ति मानवाः तदा देवमविज्ञाय दुःखस्यान्तो भविष्यति

yadā carmavadākāśaṃ veṣṭayiṣyanti mānavaḥ tadā devamavijñāya duḥkhasyānto bhaviṣyati

When humans can wrap space like a hide, then, without knowing God, could there be an end to suffering.

This paradoxical statement uses impossibility as revelation. Wrapping the ākāśa (space/ether) like a hide is as impossible as attaining liberation without knowing the deva (God/divine Reality). Suffering (duḥkha) does not end by accumulating pleasures or powers, but only by vijñāna (direct knowledge) of Truth. In our yoga practice, this reminds us that techniques are means, not ends. No matter how flexible the body or controlled the breath; without understanding the Ātman, suffering continues. The verse pushes us toward the essential question: who knows? who suffers? who seeks liberation?
