तस्मात्त्वमिन्द्रियाण्यादौ नियम्य भरतर्षभ | पाप्मानं प्रजहि ह्येनं ज्ञानविज्ञाननाशनम्

tasmāt tvam indriyāṇy ādau niyamya bharatarṣabha | pāpmānaṃ prajahi hy enaṃ jñāna-vijñāna-nāśanam

Therefore, oh bull among the Bharatas, first master the senses and destroy this sin, which destroys knowledge and realization.

Prescription: gradual control from outside to inside. Niyamya — master, regulate — indriyāṇi first.

Prajahi — destroy, abandon — the pāpmānam (sin) that has the form of desire. This specific enemy destroys jñāna (theoretical knowledge) and vijñāna (direct realization). Knowledge without experience is inert; experience without knowledge is blind. Desire annuls both.
