Ākāśa

Ether, space. The fifth mahābhūta and the subtlest of the five elements. The medium through which sound (śabda) is transmitted. In the Vijñāna Bhairava, ākāśa reveals itself as the space of consciousness itself, the inner domain where all phenomena arise and dissolve.
