Laukika Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 75
तेजसा सूर्यदीपादेराकाशे शबले दृशा । दृष्टिं निक्षिप्य तत्रैव स्वात्मरूपं प्रकाशते ॥
tejasā sūryadīpāder ākāśe śabale dṛśā | dṛṣṭiṃ nikṣipya tatraiva svātmarūpaṃ prakāśate ||
Throwing the gaze into space flecked with light from the sun, a lamp and so forth, there itself manifests the own nature of the Self.
Seventy-fifth dhāraṇā. Light as daily meditation. Tejasā sūryadīpādeḥ — by the light of the sun, of a lamp or other sources. The ordinary light surrounding us each day. Ākāśe śabale — in the space flecked with light, in the play of light and shadow.
Dṛṣṭiṃ nikṣipya — throwing the gaze. Not fixing with tension but gently casting visual attention into the illuminated space. Without focusing on anything concrete. Letting the eyes rest in light itself, not on the objects it illuminates.
Svātmarūpaṃ prakāśate — the own nature of the Self manifests. There is deliberate wordplay: prakāśa is both physical illumination and spiritual illumination. The external light you see is the same internal light that sees. Subject and object of vision share a luminous nature. By resting in light without seeking objects, you discover that you are that light.
