One who offers oblations to these resplendent tongues at the proper time, the rays of the sun conduct him to where resides the one Lord of the gods.

The result of correct ritual: being guided toward higher worlds.

Etasu… bhājamāneṣu — to these resplendent tongues. The seven forms of fire described previously.

Yathākālaṃ — at the proper time. Temporal precision is essential; each ritual has its auspicious moment.

Āhutayaḥ — oblations, offerings. The act of giving the best of oneself to the fire.

Sūryasya raśmayaḥ — the rays of the sun. Solar light as vehicle to higher worlds, the path of the gods (devayāna).

Devānāṃ patiḥ — the Lord of the gods. Brahman as sovereign of all deities, final goal even of rituals.

Ekaḥ — the one. Beyond the multiplicity of gods, there is one without a second.

The well-executed ritual purifies and elevates, but does not fully liberate. It is a ladder, not the destination.
