As the ether, omnipresent by its subtlety, is not stained, so the Self, situated everywhere in the body, is not stained.

The analogy of space (ākāśa): it pervades all things by its subtle nature (saukṣmya) yet remains untouched by what it contains.

Sarvatra-avasthitaḥ — situated everywhere — the Self is not localized in the heart or head but pervades the entire psycho-physical organism as consciousness.

Nopalipyate — is not stained — by the actions, experiences, or qualities of the body. The witness remains pure regardless of what is witnessed.
