Ātma-Saṃyama Yoga · Verse 39

एतन्मे संशयं कृष्ण छेत्तुमर्हस्यशेषतः | त्वदन्यः संशयस्यास्य छेत्ता न ह्युपपद्यते

etat me saṃśayaṃ kṛṣṇa cchettum arhasya aśeṣataḥ | tvad-anyaḥ saṃśayasya asya chettā na hi upapadyate

Oh Kṛṣṇa! You are worthy of completely dispelling this doubt of mine. No one but You can dispel this doubt.

Arjuna appeals to Kṛṣṇa as the only resource. Chettum arhasi — “you are worthy of cutting” — saṃśaya (doubt). Doubt is the enemy of yoga according to the Yoga Sūtra (1.30).

The declaration is theological: tvad-anyaḥ na upapadyate — no one but You is appropriate/can do it. It establishes Kṛṣṇa’s authority as supreme guru.
