The diligent monk, with constant effort, attains supremacy and the enlightenment that the whole world desires.

Appamādena — with diligence, without negligence (a-pamāda). This is the perfect reverse of the previous verse. Where there was excess and laziness, now there is constant attention.

Diligence (appamāda) is one of the fundamental qualities of the path. In yoga, it corresponds to abhyāsa — sustained practice without interruption. It is not sporadic intensity, but sustained constancy.
