Bhikkhuvagga · The Monk · Gāthā 364

The joy of the monk’s retreat, who dwells in retreat; that monk goes to the path, having left this new becoming.

Vivekanandā — the joy of retreat. Viveka is solitude, but not physical solitude — solitude of heart, withdrawing from the demands of the world.

Punabbhava — new becoming. Each moment is a new birth. Leaving it is not dying, it is ceasing to be born again and again.
