Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 22

आदिनाथोदितं दिव्यमष्टैश्वर्य-प्रदायकम् | वल्लभं सर्व-सिद्धानां दुर्लभं मरुतामपि

ādināthaoditaṃ divyam aṣṭaiśvarya-pradāyakam | vallabhaṃ sarva-siddhānāṃ durlabhaṃ marutām api

Taught by Ādinātha (Śiva), divine, bestower of the eight sovereign powers, beloved by all siddhas, difficult to obtain even for the gods.

Ādinātha — the Primordial Lord — is an epithet of Śiva, considered the first yogī and origin of all the teachings of Haṭha Yoga. This divine lineage gives supreme authority to these practices.

Aṣṭaiśvarya-pradāyakam — bestower of the eight sovereign powers. The classic aṣṭa-siddhis (eight siddhis) are: aṇimā (becoming small), mahimā (becoming big), laghimā (lightness), garimā (heaviness), prāpti (obtaining what is desired), prākāmya (irresistible will), īśitva (lordship) and vaśitva (control over everything).

Durlabhamh marutām api — difficult even for the maruts (wind gods). This expression underlines the rarity and value of these teachings: not even celestial beings have easy access to them.
