Śivasaṃhitā 3.83

Another transition marker in the text: idānīm (now) signals that the discourse on advanced prāṇāyāma gives way to the vāyusādhana specifically for eliminating the kleśas. Patañjali’s five classical yoga kleśas — avidyā (ignorance), asmitā (ego identification), rāga (attachment), dveṣa (aversion), and abhiniveśa (fear of death) — are the roots of human suffering. The Śivasaṃhitā’s vāyusādhana attacks them directly through work with prāṇa.

The promise of not being reborn (na punarjanma) completes the text’s soteriological horizon. The yogin who has reached consummation is not «thrown back» into the birth-and-death cycle (saṃsāra) after the body’s death: their karma has been completely consumed, no seed remaining that can germinate in a new life. Puṇyapāpanirlepā (not tainted by virtue or vice) signals the transcendence of moral duality: the yogin operates beyond the categories of good and evil.

Enjoying «for ages» alongside the gods is one of the text’s most evocative images. Not the aridity of Buddhist nirvāṇa nor the impersonal stillness of Vedāntic brahman: it is joyful participation in the cosmos’s most refined planes of existence, where time dilates to eternity and company is that of the deva — the Luminous Ones, the Radiant Ones.
