Laukika Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 79

वर्णस्य सविसर्गस्य विसर्गान्तं चिन्तयेत् । शून्यया शून्यभूतो हि शून्यरूपः प्रकाशते ॥

varṇasya savisargasya visargāntaṃ cintayet | śūnyayā śūnyabhūto hi śūnyarūpaḥ prakāśate ||

Contemplate the end of the visarga of any sound with visarga. Having become void through void, one manifests as void-form.

Seventy-ninth dhāraṇā. The end of sound. Varṇasya savisargasya — of any letter with visarga (the aspirated sound at the end, like “aḥ”). Visargāntam cintayet — contemplate where that sound ends. The visarga is a whisper that dissolves into silence. Where exactly does it die?

Follow the sound to its total extinction. This is not an acoustic exercise. It is a meditation on dissolution. Every phenomenon has a point where it ceases to exist. Finding that exact point is finding the border between manifestation and void.

Śūnyayā śūnyabhūtaḥ — having become void through void. Śūnyarūpaḥ prakāśate — manifests as luminous void. Three times śūnya in one phrase. Bhairava insists: void, void, void. But a void that prakāśate — shines, illuminates. Not nothingness. It is luminous nothingness. The creative void from which all arises.
