Prakaraṇa 1 · Verse 50

मुमुक्षोर् एव नान्यस्य साधनम् उपपद्यते

mumukṣor eva nānyasya sādhanam upapadyate

Only for one who seeks liberation are the means effective

The prakaraṇa closes where it began: with mumukṣu. Without the desire for liberation, techniques are gymnastics, mantras are phonetics, meditation is relaxation. With that desire, the same practices become sādhana — effective means — because they are oriented. The difference lies not in what you do but in the direction from which you do it. A journey requires a destination as much as a vehicle. Vasiṣṭha has opened the door; the following prakaraṇas will enter.
