Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 76

बन्धत्रयमिदं श्रेष्ठं महासिद्धैश्च सेवितम् | सर्वेषां हठतन्त्राणां साधनं योगिनो विदुः

bandha-trayam idaṃ śreṣṭhaṃ mahā-siddhaiś ca sevitam | sarveṣāṃ haṭha-tantrāṇāṃ sādhanaṃ yogino viduḥ

This triad of bandhas is the best, practiced by the great siddhas.Yogis know it as the means to perform all haṭha tantra practices.

This verse concludes the exposition of the three main bandhas by asserting their supremacy.Bandha-trayam — the triad of mūla, uḍḍiyāna and jālandhara — is declared śreṣṭham (the best) and endorsed by the mahā-siddhas, the great perfected masters of the tradition.

The mention of the siddhas adds authority: these are not invented or theoretical techniques, but practices handed down by those who achieved yogic perfection. The eighty-four siddhas of the tantric tradition represent the lineage of achievers who validated these methods.

Sarveṣāṃ haṭha-tantrāṇām sādhanam — “the medium for all haṭha tantra practices” — indicates that the three bandhas are the foundation on which all other techniques are built.Without mastering the bandhas, advanced mudrās, prolonged kumbhaka and awakening of kuṇḍalinī are not safely possible. They are literally the keys that open the doors of haṭha yoga.
