Dvādaśa-prakaraṇam (Kuṇḍalinī) · Verse 23
इति श्रीयोगयाज्ञवल्क्यसंहितायां द्वादशः प्रकरणः समाप्तः ॥
iti śrīyogayājñavalkyasaṃhitāyāṃ dvādaśaḥ prakaraṇaḥ samāptaḥ ||
The concluding formula, iti… samāptaḥ – “thus it is finished” – transcends a simple editorial convention. Rooted in the established practice of saṃhitā texts, this closure represents a ritualistic transition, marking the shift from the sacred time of the dialogue to the temporal space allotted to the reader. The fact that this is the twelfth prakaraṇa holds significance beyond a mere numerical designation; twelve embodies the concept of complete cyclical fullness – mirroring lunar cycles, the zodiacal signs, and the ādityas, solar deities. The Yoga Yājñavalkya Saṃhitā is thus presented as a fully realized cycle, and the completion of this twelfth section necessitates the reader’s active engagement within the tradition of haṭha yoga, transforming them from passive listener to an active participant in its unfolding wisdom.
