Chapter 18 · Verse 49

यदा यत्कर्तुमायाति तदा तत्कुरुते ऋजुः

yadā yatkartumāyāti tadā tatkurute ṛjuḥ | śubhaṃ vāpyaśubhaṃ vāpi tasya ceṣṭā hi

In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 49 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
