Daivāsura-Sampad-Vibhāga Yoga · Verse 9
एतां दृष्टिमवष्टभ्य नष्टात्मानोऽल्पबुद्धयः | प्रभवन्त्युग्रकर्माणः क्षयाय जगतोऽहिताः
etāṃ dṛṣṭim avaṣṭabhya naṣṭātmāno 'pa-buddhayaḥ | prabhavanty ugra-karmāṇaḥ kṣayāya jagato 'hitāḥ
Clinging to this view, lost in the Self, of small intellect, they are born performing cruel acts, enemies of the world, for its destruction.
Consequences of the āsurī vision. Avaṣṭabhya — clinging firmly to etāṃ dṛṣṭim — this view of the world. Result: naṣṭa-ātmānaḥ — lost in the Self, without contact with their true nature. Alpa-buddhayaḥ — of small intellect, without discernment.
Their action: ugra-karmāṇaḥ — fierce, violent, cruel acts. They are jagataḥ ahitaḥ — enemies of the world, hostile to existence. Their purpose: kṣayāya — destruction, ruin. Practical nihilism leads to destroying what is considered without value.
