For enjoyments born of contact are indeed generators of sorrow, have beginning and end, oh son of Kuntī; in them the wise one does not delight.

Critique of sensory pleasure. Saṃsparśajāḥ bhogāḥ — enjoyments born of contact (sensory) — depend on subject-object interaction.

Duḥkha-yonayaḥ — generators of sorrow — because: ādya-vantaḥ — have beginning and end — they are born and die. Na teṣu ramate budhaḥ — the wise one does not delight in them — because he sees their transient and limited nature. It is not forced asceticism but discernment: external pleasures do not satisfy; the wise one seeks the inexhaustible source.
