Karma-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 23
शक्नोतीहैव यः सोढुं प्राघर्ष्य विषमोदयम् | सोमृतत्वाय कल्पते नित्यं युक्तस्य योगिनः
śaknotīhaiva yaḥ soḍhuṃ prāk śarīra-vimokṣaṇāt | kāma-krodhodbhavaṃ vegaṃ sa yuktaḥ sa sukhī naraḥ
Whoever can endure here itself, before abandoning the body, the impulse born of desire and anger, is united, is a happy human.
Test of yoga here and now. Iha eva — here itself — indicates that the test is in life, not after death.
Prāk śarīra-vimokṣaṇāt — before abandoning the body — indicates immediacy. Kāma-krodhodbhavam vegam — impulse born of desire and anger — is the main challenge. Śaknoti soḍhum — can endure — indicates emotional control. Result: yuktaḥ — united — and sukhī naraḥ — happy human. Control of passions produces yoga and happiness simultaneously.
