Yathā-pi rathiṁ dhūraṁ, asmiṁ āruyha yāti; Dhammaṁ bhāvayamāno, ujuṁ suvidhaṁ gacchati.

Yathā-pi rathiṁ dhūraṁ, asmiṁ āruyha yāti; dhammaṁ bhāvayamāno, ujuṁ suvidhaṁ gacchati.

As a charioteer drives his chariot on a dusty road, so one who cultivates the Dhamma advances straight and with order.

Yathā-pi rathiṁ dhūraṁ — like a charioteer on a difficult road. The image is precise: the charioteer does not invent the road, they follow it. Dhamma is not a personal creation, it is a path already traced.

Dhammaṁ bhāvayamāno — cultivating the Dhamma. Bhāvanā is the practice that develops, that makes grow. It is not enough to know the path, one must travel it.
