Uyyuñjanti satīmanto, vivekañ ca pasāraya; Sa ve nīyāyagā bhikkhu, hitvā imaṃ punabbhava.
Uyyuñjanti satīmanto, vivekañ ca pasāraya; sa ve nīyāyagā bhikkhu, hitvā imaṃ punabbhava.
The mindful ones strive, extending into retreat; that monk goes to the path, having left this new becoming.
Pasāraya — extending. Retreat is not contraction, it is expansion in solitude. Solitude does not shrink the heart, it opens it.
Satīmanto — those with mindfulness (sati). Mindfulness is not forced, it is the natural quality of a mind that no longer distracts itself.
