Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 26
नाभिमानं तु सङ्क्षिप्य योनिस्थानमुपानयेत् | ततोऽस्य वायुना पूर्य गुदद्वारात्प्रमुच्यते ||
nābhimānaṃ tu saṅkṣipya yonisthānamupānayet | tato'sya vāyunā pūrya gudadvārātpramucyate ||
The technique combines nauli (abdominal contraction) with a downward movement of apāna vāyu. The air presses the colon from within, facilitating elimination.
The “place of the yoni” (yonisthāna) refers to the pelvic/root region of the body. Moving the navel toward it implies a deep abdominal contraction that compresses the lower organs.
This is a self-massage technique for the intestines that tones the abdominal muscles and stimulates peristalsis.
