मरुतोऽन्तर्बहिर्वापि वियद्युग्मानिवर्तनात् । भैरव्या भैरवस्यैत्तद्भैरवि व्यज्यते वपुः ॥
maruto 'ntar bahir vāpi viyad yugmā nivartanāt | bhairavyā bhairavasya etat bhairavi vyajyate vapuḥ ||
The breath neither inside nor outside — in the intermediate space, when both cease, the form of Bhairava is revealed through Bhairavī.
The second dhāraṇā. The breath moves between within and without. Bhairava points to where both cease — nivartanāt — the turning, the return. Not forced retention. The natural moment where one movement dies and the other has not yet been born.
Viyat yugmā — the pair of empty spaces. One between inhale and exhale. Another between exhale and inhale. Identical in essence but different in quality. The first is fullness emptying. The second is emptiness filling.
When attention dwells there, Bhairava says, his true form (vapuḥ) reveals itself. Not as concept. As direct experience. The space between breaths is the simplest and deepest door.
