आत्मनो न परं किञ्चिन् न चान्यद् अस्ति कञ्चन । आत्मनि सर्वलीनेऽपि न किञ्चिद् अस्ति वा न वा ॥

The equation reduces to its absolute minimum: ātman = all, and not even “all,” for “all” implies “not-all.” The jīvanmukta does not “think” this; it is the very structure of their perception. The mind formulating the question “what remains?” is the mind that dissolves into the question itself. Just as the eye cannot see itself, so too can ātman never become an object of knowledge; it can only be recognized as the subject that was never other.
