Dvādaśa-prakaraṇam (Kuṇḍalinī) · Verse 9

सर्वदा योगयुक्तः स्यात् सर्वत्र योगचिन्तकः । योगी योगरतः साक्षान्मुक्तो भवति निश्चितम् ॥

sarvadā yogayuktaḥ syāt sarvatra yogacintakaḥ | yogī yogarataḥ sākṣānmukto bhavati niścitam ||

Yājnavalkya’s instruction – “always should one be united with yoga, everywhere thinking of yoga” – underscores the necessity of integrating yogic awareness into every aspect of existence. This isn’t simply a matter of formal practice but a sustained state of yoga-yukta – consistently aligned with the principles and practices of yoga. The repeated emphasis on yoga-chin-taka – constantly contemplating yoga – reflects the understanding that true liberation arises not from isolated moments of meditation, but from a permeating, conscious orientation toward the path. The certainty offered – “the yogī devoted to yoga is directly liberated” – highlights the potency of this unwavering commitment. This echoes the broader yogic tradition, particularly the teachings of the Patañjali Yoga Sūtras, which emphasizes the importance of samyama – simultaneous concentration on prāṇa, uṇā, and manas – as the foundation for all yogic progress. The consistent engagement with the core tenets of yoga cultivates a state of profound stillness and clarity, ultimately leading to moksha.
