Karma-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 6
संन्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः | योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति
saṃnyāsas tu mahā-bāho duḥkham āptum ayogataḥ | yoga-yukto munir brahma na cireṇādhigacchati
But renunciation, oh mighty-armed, is difficult to attain without yoga. The muni united to yoga attains Brahman without delay.
Renunciation without yoga is difficult. Duḥkham āptum — difficult to attain — because external renunciation without inner transformation produces frustration or pride.
Ayogataḥ — without yoga — indicates absence of practice, not absence of yoga posture. The yoga-yuktaḥ muniḥ — muni united to yoga — attains brahma — Brahman — na cireṇa — without delay. Yoga accelerates; mere renunciation may stagnate.
