परमेश्वर

Parameśvara

deva

The supreme Lord, the highest God — the ultimate divine principle beyond all names and forms. Parama (supreme) + īśvara (lord, ruler, capable one). Not a deity among deities but the ground of all divinity.

In the [[Bhagavad Gītā]], [[Krishna]] reveals himself as parameśvara — the source, sustenance, and dissolution of all worlds. In [[Shaivism]], it is the nameless awareness that underlies Shiva‘s manifold manifestations.

The [[Yoga Sūtras]] use īśvara as the special puruṣa untouched by karma, the ultimate object of devotional surrender ([[pranidhana]]). Parameśvara is that same principle recognized as the absolute.
