Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 16

महाबन्धं तु योगीन्द्रो यथावदनुपूर्वशः | कुरुते यस्तु सिद्धः स्यात्स एव परमेश्वरः ||

mahābandhaṃ tu yogīndro yathāvadanupūrvaśaḥ | kurute yas tu siddhaḥ syāt sa eva parameśvaraḥ ||

The results of Mahābandha: the practitioner becomes siddha — perfected — and realizes their identity with the divine (sa eva parameśvaraḥ).

“In sequence” (anupūrvaśaḥ) is important. The bandhas have an order: first jālandhara (throat), then uḍḍiyana (abdomen), then mūla (perineum). Reversing the order is less effective.

Identification with the supreme Lord is not arrogance; it is recognition of the true nature of being. Mahābandha dissolves the illusion of separation.
