Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 28

खेचरीमुद्रां सम्बन्ध्य जिह्वया परमेश्वरम् | अमृतं च पिबेन्नित्यं योगी योगपरायणः ||

khecarīmudrāṃ sambandhya jihvayā parameśvaram | amṛtaṃ ca piben nityaṃ yogī yogaparāyaṇaḥ ||

The “nectar” (amṛta) is the fluid that drips from the sahasrāra — the thousand-petaled lotus center at the crown. Normally it falls into the digestive fire (jāṭharāgni) and is consumed. Khecarī intercepts and collects this fluid.

The tongue touching the palate creates a bridge between the upper centers and the mouth. The nectar can then be tasted and absorbed.

This nectar is not a pure metaphor. It is a subtle substance that produces physical effects of rejuvenation, mental clarity, and states of profound well-being.
