पूरक
Puraka
Inhalation, filling. One of the three phases of pranayama along with rechaka (exhalation) and kumbhaka (retention).
Puraka is the act of receiving prana, not just air. The quality of inhalation directly affects the quality of energy absorbed. A conscious, smooth, and complete puraka nourishes the system differently than shallow, automatic breathing.
In classic proportions, puraka is usually the shortest phase. Attention during inhalation focuses on torso expansion and conscious reception of vital force.
