Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 10

उदरं तु तथा कृत्वा ऊर्ध्वं वायुं प्रचालयेत् | पूरकं च तथा कृत्वा रेचकं परिकल्पयेत् ||

udaraṃ tu tathā kṛtvā ūrdhvaṃ vāyuṃ pracālayet | pūrakaṃ ca tathā kṛtvā recakaṃ parikalpayet ||

The movement of prāṇa in Mahāmudrā: after the retention, energy is directed upward (ūrdhva). Then the cycle is completed with controlled exhalation (recaka).

This upward movement is the goal of all preceding practices. The prāṇa that normally flows downward or outward is reoriented toward the crown.

The complete sequence — inhale, retain, direct upward, exhale — constitutes one round of Mahāmudrā. It is repeated several times according to capacity.
