योनिमुद्रा

Yoni Mudrā

mudra

A mudra in which the practitioner closes the ears, eyes, nostrils, and mouth with the fingers, directing consciousness inward toward the “womb of origin” (yoni). The thumbs close the ears, the index fingers rest on the eyes, the middle fingers on the nostrils, and the ring/little fingers on the mouth.

This complete sensory withdrawal (pratyāhāra) creates a space of profound interior silence. The name refers to the root of all manifestation — the place from which consciousness emerges and to which it returns.

It is closely related to *[[shanmukhi-mudra]]” (the six-faced seal) and prepares the mind for deeper pranayama and dhyana.
