Yoni

Origin, source, womb. Primordial symbol of feminine creative energy and the cosmic womb from which all manifestation emerges. In the Haṭha Pradīpikā, yonimudrā designates a seal that closes the sensory gates. The Śiva Saṃhitā uses yoni as a metaphor for the origin of the nāḍīs. In the Upaniṣads, yoni is the source from which Brahman springs. See [[linga]] as the complementary principle.
