Kṣetra-Kṣetrajña Yoga · Verse 4

तत्क्षेत्रं यच्च यादृक्च यद्विकारि यतश्च यत् | स च यो यत्प्रभावश्च तत्समासेन मे श्रृणु

tat kṣetraṃ yac ca yādṛk ca yad-vikāri yataś ca yat | sa ca yo yat-prabhāvaś ca tat samāsena me śṛṇu

Hear from Me in summary what that field is, how it is, what are its modifications, from where it comes, who he is and what are his powers.

Kṛṣṇa prepares to enumerate the constituents of the kṣetra — the material-psychic complex that constitutes the field of experience. These range from gross elements to subtle faculties.

The description spans verses 6-7 and includes both ontological categories (what exists) and ethical disciplines (how to transform). This reflects the integral nature of Sāṅkhya-Yoga.

The phrase tat samāsena — “that in summary” — indicates that what follows is not exhaustive but representative. Complete enumeration would be infinite; these are the essential categories.
