Note: Source data contains errors. Sāttvika tapas is practiced with supreme faith (śraddhayā parayā), by those who do not desire fruit (aphalākāṅkṣibhiḥ), and who are disciplined (yuktaiḥ). It is austerity that purifies and elevates.
The three types of austerity, when practiced without attachment to results and with firm faith in the scriptural injunctions, become sāttvika. This is austerity that leads to purification and spiritual growth.
