Karma Yoga · Verse 24

उत्सीदेयुरिमे लोका न कुर्यां कर्म चेदहम् | सङ्करस्य च कर्ता स्यामुपहन्यामिमाः प्रजाः

utsīdeyur ime lokā na kuryāṃ karma ced aham | saṅkarasya ca kartā syām upahanyām imāḥ prajāḥ

These worlds would perish if I did not act; I would be the cause of confusion of castes and would destroy these creatures.

Social consequence of the leader’s inaction. Utsīdeyuḥ — would perish — implies ecological and social collapse.

Saṅkara — confusion of castes, mixing of varṇa — is social chaos. The cosmic order depends on each fulfilling their specific dharma. The example of the superior is the social glue; his inaction, dissolution.
