Pañcamopadeśaḥ (Prāṇāyāma) · Verse 19

पद्मासने स्थितो योगी बद्ध्वा चैव च जालिनीम् | शनैः पूरयते नाडीं भ्रामरीं नादमुत्तमम् ||

padmāsane sthito yogī baddhvā caiva ca jālinīm | śanaiḥ pūrayate nāḍīṃ bhrāmarīṃ nādam uttamam ||

Technique of Bhrāmarī: in lotus, with bandhas, inhaling gently, exhaling with the characteristic hum.

The “excellent sound” (nādam uttamam) is the soft and constant hum. Not forced; rather allowed, like an inner murmur that becomes audible.

The sound can be focused on different parts of the body (forehead, heart, throat) according to the desired effect. It is sound meditation (nāda yoga) combined with breathing.
