पद्मासन

Padmasana

Lotus posture. One of the most important asanas in Haṭha Yoga, considered optimal for pranayama and meditation.

In padmasana, each foot rests on the opposite thigh, creating a stable and symmetrical base. This position naturally seals energy in the body and facilitates spinal verticality.

Classical texts describe it as a destroyer of diseases. However, it requires significant hip and knee opening. Forcing it prematurely can cause injuries; gradual preparation is essential.
