Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 14

पद्मासने स्थितो योगी बद्ध्वा चैव च जालिनीम् | धारयित्वा यथा न्यायं पूरयित्वा च मारुतम् ||

padmāsane sthito yogī baddhvā caiva ca jālinīm | dhārayitvā yathānyāyaṃ pūrayitvā ca mārutam ||

The preparation of Mahābandha: lotus position, sealing of the network of nāḍīs (probably jālandhara bandha), and pulmonary filling.

The “net” (jālinī) refers to the system of energy channels that must be sealed so that prāṇa does not escape. This is achieved through the specific bandhas.

The lotus is the optimal posture because its geometry naturally directs energy upward. The base of the spine is stabilized, allowing energy to ascend.
