Śivasaṃhitā 3.94

Three years of daily practice to become Bhairava: the text’s temporal progression — six months, one year, three years — follows an exponential deepening logic. Six months eliminate superficial obstacles; the year consolidates the system; three years produce complete identification with Bhairava’s consciousness. Dhruvam (certainly, with the certainty of the inevitable) guarantees that this transformation is not possible but necessary for whoever practices with constancy.

The secret (rahasyam or gopyam) with which this practice must be guarded is not esoteric prudishness but pragmatic protection. In medieval tantric pedagogy, transmitting advanced techniques to one without adequate preparation was considered harmful both for the recipient — who could become energetically disturbed — and for the transmission itself — which lost its power when vulgarized. Knowledge requires the appropriate vessel to not spill.

Vāyusiddhi (dominion of air/prāṇa) obtained «easily» (sulabha) through this practice is the central result of the entire chapter. Ease is not superficiality: when the system has been adequately prepared for months or years, what was previously arduously difficult becomes natural. Siddhi is the point where practice no longer requires effort because the system has reorganized itself around it.
