लेधनामंथनाकोटैः स्त्रीसुखस्य भरात्स्मृतेः । शक्त्यभावेऽपि देवेशि भावेदानन्दसम्प्लवः ॥

lehanāmanthanākoṭaiḥ strīsukhasya bharāt smṛteḥ | śaktyabhāve 'pi deveśi bhāved ānandasamplavaḥ ||

By intense memory of pleasure with a woman — the kissing, embracing, pressing — even in absence of śakti, oh lady of gods, arises the flood of bliss.

Fortieth technique. Complements the previous. Lehanā-manthana-ākoṭaiḥ — kissing, embracing, pressing. Concrete physical details. Bhairava is not prudish. Strīsukhasya bharāt smṛteḥ — by intense memory of pleasure with a woman.

Śaktyabhāve ‘pi — even in absence of śakti, of the partner. This is the key. Vivid memory of pleasure, without present physical stimulus, can produce the same bliss. Because the bliss was never in the other’s body. It was in consciousness.

Ānandasamplavaḥ — flood of bliss. Not a trickle. A flood. This technique scandalizes puritans but is profoundly logical: if bliss is inherent to consciousness, any means that unveils it is valid. Memory of pleasure, contemplated without attachment or greed, becomes a door to objectless bliss.
