Śūnya Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 96
वस्तुषु स्मर्यमाणेषु दृश्ये देशे मनस्त्यजेत् । स्वतनुं निराधारं कृत्वा प्रसरेत्तदा प्रभुः ॥
vastuṣu smaryamāṇeṣu dṛśye deśe manas tyajet | svatanuṃ nirādhāraṃ kṛtvā prasaret tadā prabhuḥ ||
When objects are remembered, abandon the mind in the visible region. Making the own body without support, then one expands as the Lord.
Ninety-sixth technique. The body without support. Vastuṣu smaryamāṇeṣu — when memories of objects arise. When the mind pulls you toward the past, toward known things, toward the familiar.
Dṛśye deśe manas tyajet — abandon the mind in the visible region. Do not follow it to the past. Let it fall here, in what you see right now. But without clinging to the visible either. Tyajet — release it. Neither past nor present. Neither memory nor perception.
Svatanuṃ nirādhāram kṛtvā — making one’s own body without support. Without internal or external reference. Without reference. The body floating in the space of consciousness with no floor beneath nor sky above. Prasaret tadā prabhuḥ — then one expands as the Lord. Consciousness without reference expands infinitely. It has no reason to stop at any point.
