Prakaraṇa 1 · Verse 30
मुमुक्षोर् एव शास्त्रं हि शास्त्रम् अन्यन् न विद्यते
mumukṣor eva śāstraṃ hi śāstram anyan na vidyate
Only for one who seeks liberation does the śāstra exist; there is no other
Sacred text is not an end in itself; it is a map for the seeker. Without the desire to arrive, the map is decoration. Vasiṣṭha is radical: a śāstra that does not awaken mumukṣutva does not deserve to be called śāstra. Erudition that does not move is noise. Knowledge that does not transform is data.
