Prakaraṇa 2 · Verse 12
न हि विश्वं व्यतिरिक्तं चिदाकाशे प्रवर्तते
na hi viśvaṃ vyatiriktaṃ cidākāśe pravartate
The universe is not separate from the space of consciousness
The universe does not exist outside consciousness the way furniture exists inside a room. It exists within consciousness the way a dream exists within the dreamer — not as an object in a container but as a modification of the medium itself. There is no “outside” to cid-ākāśa because cid-ākāśa is not a space with boundaries; it is the condition that makes space possible. The world is not in consciousness; the world is consciousness appearing as the world.
