Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad · 5..3
अग्निर्मूर्धा चक्षुषी चन्द्रसूर्यौ दिशः श्रोत्रे वाग्विवृताश्च वेदाः वायुः प्राणः हृदयं विश्वमस्य पद्भ्यां पृथिवी ह्येष सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा
agnirmūrdhā cakṣuṣī candraśūryau diśaḥ śrotre vāgvivṛtāśca vedāḥ vāyuḥ prāṇaḥ hṛdayaṃ viśvamasya padbhyāṃ pṛthivī hyeṣa sarvabhūtāntarātmā
Fire his head, eyes the moon and sun, directions his ears, speech his manifested mouth and the Vedas, wind his breath, heart the universe, from his feet the earth —He is the Ātman interior of all beings.
A cosmological description of the universal puruṣa: his parts are the elements and gods. Agni (fire) is his head, candra and sūrya (moon and sun) his eyes, the directions (diśaḥ) his ears, speech (vāc) and the Vedas his mouth, vāyu (wind) his breath, the universe (viśva) his heart, the earth (pṛthivī) his feet. In our yoga practice, this is nyāsa —the installation of the gods in the body. The sarvabhūtāntarātmā (Ātman interior of all beings) is not different from this cosmic puruṣa; we are microcosms of the macrocosm.
