Kāla

Kāla (काल) is time as an irreducible cosmic force that devours all manifestation. In the Bhagavad-gītā 11.32, Kṛṣṇa declares: «kālo ‘smi loka-kṣaya-kṛt pravṛddhaḥ — I am time, destroyer of worlds». The Upaniṣads describe Kāla as the dimension from which the universe emerges and into which it dissolves. In the Śiva-saṃhitā, Kāla is the power that regulates the cycles of creation and dissolution.
